Citizens Academy
Alumni Association
We work to develop and execute a variety of programs and events that focus on our Mission to understand and appreciate law enforcement among the citizens in our area and community leaders. Highlighted below are just some of the programs our organization supports.
The National Child Identification Program is a community service initiative dedicated to partnering parents and guardians with a tool they can use to help protect their children. The I.D. Kit allows parents to collect specific information by easily recording the physical characteristics and fingerprints of their children on identification cards that are then kept at home by the parent or guardian. This I.D. Kit will give authorities vital information to assist their efforts to locate a missing child if the need would arise.
If you are having a large scale event focused on families and would like to have the FBI Citizens Academy Alumni Association distribute Child ID kits at your event, email jgoverton@yahoo.com at least 8 weeks prior to your event date. Please include an overview of your event, date(s) and time(s) estimated attendance and your contact information.
Another way the FBI Kansas City Citizens Academy educates the community is through its Speaker Bureau. Our mission is to provide presentations on Internet Safety to various community groups and organizations in support of the Kansas City Division’s Outreach Program. The FBI office in Kansas City receives numerous presentation requests from schools, churches, youth groups, business organizations relating to cyber and internet safety. Presenters are graduates from the FBI Kansas City Citizens Academy and this involvement not only enhances the alumni’s public image and the public’s awareness of the Citizens Academy program. This commitment assists the FBI in an area in which they may not be able to accommodate due to normal mission requirements.
